college group questions – Saturday 4-19

By brettryee

Hey guys, ok, here are the questions (some the same and I added some) – We also have some newcomers hopefully, so please be prepared to explain to them what we’ve learned so far in Galatians, so we make sure they understand the context of what is being written

Galatians 4

4 – Discuss God’s “timing”. What can we say overall about this subject? Also, what does Paul tell us about Christ’s relationship to the world in this section?

8 – What does this tell you about Paul’s audience? How does his last argument about being a son work in this context. What can we also learn from the context about knowing God (especially in light of the sending of Christ in the last section? clue: remember what we learned from the Kingdom discussions and what we know about Christ.

9 – What is the difference between knowing God and being known by God? What does this tell you about God’s grace and the incarnation? What does this mean to you? How then, does that affect the next statement?

9 – What does Paul mean by falling back to weak and miserable principles? What are the weak and miserable principles of today? What are the differences between Godly principles and the world’s?

10 – what do you think Paul meant with his comment about holy days? Relate this to the law and “falling back”

12 – Doesn’t this seem rather boastful and arrogant? Why would Paul say this? What does becoming like them say for evangelism?  (Understand where they are, NOT trying to make them who you are)

13- How can we follow the example of the Galatians when it comes to welcoming people?

16 – How is Paul now their enemy? What does this question say though about truth? (compare to their good treatment of Paul)

17 – Paul is passionate, even zealous. How can we model his example? Should we?

19 – What do you think Paul means by being in the pains of Childbirth? How does this reflect his feelings and for what cause? How does that affect us?

20 – What is the overall lesson to be learned in this? (Law vs Faith and pleasing God)

This has absolutely nothing to do with your post, but thank you for the message. I’ve been struggling with trusting God and He’s been convicting me of that all week. Your message hit what I was going through right on. So thank you.
